what do you say to your garagiste when you want to tell him.......

that the engine is "missing" now and again?

Pending the arrival of our new car, both the present ones are worryingly a bit like Trump's "well-tuned engine"!

Must keep driving them until the new one gets here on 1st March.

So, please, help!

Ratés, défaut d'allumage although the latter is technically more accurately expressed as défauts de la combustion.

Throw in cliquetis and pré allumage and they will get the gist because you dont actually know how or why it is "missing" unless the engine has been removed Stick out tongue [:P]

Mint, this thread has jinxed my car! My car always starts first time, and immediately after I made my suggestion I went out to go to the shops - rerererererererer, rerererererererer, rerererererererer, re - rer.
Can't believe it.

Oh, ET, and you have been soooo helpful!  Je suis navrée.

Actually, I jinxed myself because, on another thread, I was saying that my 17-year old car was running smooth as a nut!Cry Out [:'(]

On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.

Some may not like his views, but what a prediction!
