Re: very frightened

Thanks Frenchie , she loves cuddles.
I'm being pedantic here, but I'm surprised you can say très peur, because I though peur was a noun? So it would be "she has very fear"?

Yes, she has very fear will do, of very very fear, or even very very very fear,Big Smile [:D] along with some of the other things mentioned. Sometimes you haven't got to think about it, just say it!

If you feel that 'elle a très peur' is not strong enough, just add 'très'.

'Elle a très très très peur...'

It is a noun, and that was my first thought also.  You can't say elle a argent so it makes sense that you also can't say elle a très argent.

I can't find a stated rule on this, but I suspect that you can use très whenever the basic expression is "avoir" followed by a noun without any "un" or "de" or anything like that:

avoir peur : elle a très peur
avoir froid : elle a très froid
avoir faim : elle n'a rien mangé, elle doit avoir très faim

I think all those are correct.

Re: very frightened

DSK used it last night with reference to the USA Penal System.

"J'ai eu peur, j'ai eu très peur", a répondu Dominique Strauss-Kahn ...
