I've got a friend looking to move to the limousin around april next year. He has been an upholsterer since leaving school and would like to continue in this trade. is there much of a call for this kind of work oe will he need to be looking at alternate ideas?

many thanks,

Best of luck to him but amongst the English speaking population there loads of people but not much money. Also in contrast to UK big distances to travel betwen jobs.

I think your friend may get by using his existing skill as an upholsterer. His alternatives are at best ,limited or, non existant.

Kind regards,

Re: any call for an upholsterer?

On the way down through France last year we stayed at a b and b - there was a strange, familiar tapping noise coming from the room next to the dining room - it turned out to be an upholstery group - about ten chairs around a large barn room in various stages of re-upholstery by (mainly) local women. They were helping each other rather than being taught. It seems to be a popular pastime in France as much as here in UK.  Could teaching a group/working on commissions be a way of integrating into his new local area for your friend?
