French software: Linguaphone v Rosetta Stone

Does anyone have experience of either/both, and can recommend a choice?

Merci

Broadly RS is more up to date but either works if you put the effort in.

Re: French software: Linguaphone v Rosetta Stone

I've bought Rosetta Stone and am using it daily - VERY unusual for me, as I've never clicked with any other learning technique.

I'd value a mentor being a beginner, and wonder if there is anyone out there with the time and patience to correspond in French? (Writing and grammar are the most difficult aspects, I find.)

Le français est fantastique!

Merci

Re: French software: Linguaphone v Rosetta Stone

In case anyone is considering Rosetta Stone: I have started having 40-minute French tutor sessions each week, as a means of getting face-to-face practice. The tutor says that I'm more advanced than he would have expected after 8 months, so I feel the investment in RS was worth it.
