I have a little story attached to the last European elections. In our village, we had posters of all the candidates together with a summary of their backgrounds, aims, achievements, etc.
OH and I studied these carefully and had a discussion between ourselves. Not knowing any of the candidates, it was essential that we discussed the merits or otherwise of each thoroughly. So we eventually picked on a woman candidate with green credentials.
After the election, the results were posted outside the mairie as is customary. We eagerly looked down the list to find "our" candidate.....the number of votes she got was TWO
We laughed our heads off; this could only happen in a small French village and the locals interested in the results could probably have worked out exactly who those TWO people were!
Wonder how popular our choice will be this time?
