€1760 per month to live

That is the income including benefits that the French reckon they need per month to live. And 18% of those asked feel that they are poor.

The government numbers reckon that €1026 is enough.

And they feel that the gap between rich and poor is growing.

If you have the patience to read the article below there are some fascinating numbers concerning poverty, income etc.

We struggle with just a bit more than that a month!

We do have a mortgage so I presume we are classified as rich.

That figure is per person, so if both earn that in a couple then it must be easier. I guess it depends on the rent/mortgage situation. But there would be taxes.
