Little egret, great egret

One particular field close to here attracts large numbers of herons. Recently though sharing the field have been and number of little egrets and a very small number of great egrets. I assume the two latter are on their way to better climes for the winter.

But, according to the Collins Bird Guide they dont get up as far as this. Is it global warming that is encouraging them?

Ticking over, just about.

Re: Little egret, great egret

At least ten years ago the ‘status’ of egrets was changed in the U.K. as they became more and more common. They are obviously moving north. How old is your guide?

Re: Little egret, great egret

Published 10 years ago so information probably at least 12 years old, possibly much more.
